Bulldogs were the 4th most popular breed in the U.S. according to 2015 American Kennel Club registration stats. In Los Angeles bulldogs are no. 1 breed.

The "Bull" part of bulldog was started in the year 1800's when these dogs were used in the barbaric sport of bull baiting. This sport was banned in 1835 with the Cruelty to Animals Act.

Bulldogs are the favourite dog breed of many celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Reese Witherspoon, David Beckham, Ashley Olsen, Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, and Martha Stewart and many others.

Bulldogs have suffered most airline deaths in comparison with other breed due to their respiratory issues.

It is very dangerous to allow a bulldog to swim even under close supervision. Like other brachycephalic (large-skulled) bulldogs can’t swim.

Bulldog have large head which prevents the bulldog puppies from being delivered naturally. So, over eighty percent of bulldogs are delivered by Caesarean section.

Olde English bulldogs can jump up to seven feet in the air.

Bulldogs are said to have average intelligence, but Princess Jacqueline (a French bulldog died in 1934) was claimed to understand and react to 20 words correctly.

Warren G. Harding was the only U.S. President to own a bulldog while in office.                                                                                                           
Many sports teams use mascot of bulldog like Boston Bulldogs, Los Angeles Bulldogs, Barnsley F.C. (Mascot name : Toby Tyke). Some universities like University of Georgia (Mascot name: Uga, Costumed Mascot: Hairy Dawg), Drake University (Mascot name: Spike) use the mascot of bulldog.
